1934 – Fulton Employees Credit Union is chartered by the State of Tennessee. The newly formed credit
union’s mission is to promote thrift, create a source of credit at a reasonable cost and provide members
an opportunity to use and control their own money. Initial membership enrollment totals 42 with assets of $525.
Members elect W. L. Chandler, President; I. A. Martin, Vice President; and J. R. Holcombe, Secretary-Treasurer.
Board members are C. D. Lawhorn, Margaret Davis, E. R. Rhodes, J. Creech and F. K. Fulton.
1939 – Ruth Curtis hired as first employee.
1969 – Loans top the $1,000,000 mark.
1977 – Share draft accounts offered for the first time.
1986 – Main office opens on Kingston Pike in Knoxville.
1987 – Credit union merges with American Zinc Employees Federal Credit Union.
1990 – New East Knox County office opens in Mascot.
1991- Branch opens in Kerns Bakery in South Knoxville following merger with Kerns Employees Credit
Union and Tennessee Grange Credit Union. Branch later moves to Pigeon Forge.
1996 - Blount County office opens in Maryville.
2003 - Fulton Credit Union applies for and receives approval for a community charter to serve Blount,
Jefferson, Knox and Sevier counties.
2004 - Fulton Credit Union becomes First Choice Community Credit Union.
2009 - Bill Pay is added to our array of remote service offerings.
Today, we serve over 6,000 members with over $37,000,000.00 in assets.
